INSPECTION REPORTOF CIVIL HOSPITAL
MOHALI
On 14-5-09, at about
4.15 P.M., I inspected Civil Hospital, Phase 6,
Mohali with prior intimation to Chairperson of
Punjab State Human Rights Commission and my observations are as follow:-
Firstly, I visited the emergency
ward where three patients were taking treatment. Thereafter, I visited male
ward and female ward. There were 24 beds female ward and in male ward, there
were 30 beds. Occupancy in male ward were only 14 patients. The beds were also
vacant in female ward.
The following staff was present
there.
Nursing
staff in male ward : 1
Nursing
staff in female ward : 1
In
emergency ward nursing staff : 1
Security
Guard : 1
Sweeper :
1
Dr. Suman Bali was on duty and Dr. Kawaljit
Singh Sandha, M.D., Pathologist was also present
there and both the doctors informed that other doctors and technicians are
available on call. The floors and toilets were clean and cleaning process was
also going on at the time of my visit. I enquired from the patients about the
behavior of staff and treatment. No body raised any complaint against any staff
of the hospital. As per information gathered from the hospital, the serious
cases are generally get treatment from P.G.I. as P.G.I. is very near. The work
was satisfactory.
My
suggestion is that if possible, Health Department of Punjab by consulting with
P.G.I. can utilize the services of doctors of P.G.I. and un-occupied beds can
be provided to patients getting treatment in P.G.I. to reduce the pressure.
During the visit, my P.A. Mr. Parmjeet Singh was with
me.
