Subject : INSPECTION NOTE ON POLICE STATION HARYANA,

HOSHIARPUR.

On 30-5-09, at about 8.50 A.M., I inspected the police station Haryana, District Hoshiarpur. At the time of my visit, there was no person in the custody of the police. The police station was neat and clean. There was a provision for computerized registration of F.I.R.s ASI Tirath Ram, was also a Hawaldar, one Munshi and Guard were present. The other staff had gone to Hoshiarpur on emergency duty as per the record of the Police Station Haryana. Notice board showing the duty roaster was placed in the police station.

The safe box of post office was lying properly locked. On my inquiry, it has been reported that the following staff is available there.

1. Sub Inspector : 1

2. ASI : 3

3. Hawaldar : 4

4. Constable : 3

5. P.R.H.C. local : 15

6. S.P.O. : 11

7. P.H.G. : 46

8. Lady constable : 2

9. Sweeper : 2

10. Cook : 1

Pendency of complaints:- It is reported that about 25 complaints marked by S.S.P., 19 complaints directly received in the police station are under inquiry and has been marked to different officials of the police station. A large number of case properties was lying in the police station.

Recommendations:- I suggest that the police department be asked to get the disposal of case properties as early as possible by adopting the legal procedure. I further recommend that in case, there is no legal hitch to get the property released on Sapurdari, is lying unnecessary due to the fault of the owner of the property, then some charge be recovered from the owner of the property before releasing the same.

S.S.P. Hoshiarpur be asked to get the complaints pending disposed of in accordance with law.
